KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 – All-local side Petaling Jaya City FC remained unbeaten and moved to third place in the Malaysian Super League with a 1-0 win over Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday.
Malaysian international Darren Lok clinched the three points with the winner which came in the 53rd minute.
Darren tucked home the all-important goal after his first attempt had come off the left upright much to the dismay of the home team.
PJ City is unbeaten after three matches. In the first two matches, PJ City shared points with Perak FC (0-0) and Melaka United (2-2).
It is a huge boost for PJ City as it is the only team without any foreign players on the side coached by former international P. Maniam.
Meanwhile, Sri Pahang FC collected its first point in the league with a scoreless draw against Melaka United at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka. Pahang lost their first two matches – 3-1 to Selangor away and 2-0 to Perak at home.
At the Petaling Jaya Stadium, much-touted Selangor FC can thank Kuala Lumpur City FC’s Australian defender Giancarlo Gallifuoco for saving the blushes with a 1-1 draw in the Klang valley Derby.
Giancarlo headed the ball into his own net in the last minute of play to wipe Dominique Da Sylva’s 81st-minute lead for the City Boys.
Seven-time Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim continued their winning ways with a 4-0 win over UiTM FC at the UiTM FC Stadium in Shah Alam. With three wins out of three matches, the Southern Tigers are perched on top with maximum points and have yet to concede a goal.
