PETALING JAYA, 27 Aug – There was joy when he scored in his debut match in Belgium but Malaysian, Luqman Hakim Shamsudin was equally sad that his new club KV Kortrijk ended up with a 4-1 defeat to KRC Gent in an Under-21 match.
However, despite the defeat, the first goal by the talented 18-year-old from Kota Bharu is certainly a morale booster for Luqman who has signed a five-year contract with Kortrijk which is owned by Malaysian tycoon, Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
Luqman has been getting wide publicity in Belgium and getting into the scoring act certainly augurs well for the National Under-19 player who arrived in Belgium two weeks ago and has served his two-week quarantine for Covid-19.
Getting adapted to the new environment plus getting his name into the scoresheet only speaks of his determination to do well in Europe. He is determined to keep Malaysia’s flag flying in Europe.
