SEPANG, April 12 – “I have always dreamed of winning while racing in my home country, and today that wish came true,” said national rider Md Ramdan Rosli after emerging as the champion of Race 2 in Round 1 of the TVS Racing International Championship at Sepang International Circuit today.

This marks Ramdan’s second podium finish of the 2026 season opener, following his second-place finish in Race 1 yesterday.

In today’s Race 2, Ramdan who started from third on the grid maintained his confidence despite the 6-lap race taking place on a slippery track due to heavy rain before the final event began.

The conditions forced many riders to adopt a cautious approach in their pursuit of a podium finish.

Despite the caution, misfortune struck several riders who crashed after failing to control their machines through the sharp corners.

Ramdan remained calm throughout the race, keeping himself within the front row before successfully overtaking the frontrunners to take the lead.

His riding style remained consistent, and he navigated every sharp turn skillfully, fully aware of the slick surface.

During the final two laps, he pulled away from the other riders, his confidence peaking as he headed toward a stylish finish.

He crossed the line in a comfort manner to secure the title of Race 2 champion. Second place went to Indian rider Sarthak Chavan, while Luis Miguel from Spain finished the race in third.

“Alhamdulillah, I am very proud of this victory, especially since it was achieved in my own country. I have always dreamed of winning whenever I compete at home and today I fulfilled that dream.

“In today’s race, I chose to be more careful because the track was quite slippery. I didn’t want to be too rushed. My focus was simply on riding consistently. The bike was also in top condition, which gave me the confidence to handle Race 2 well,” Ramdan explained.

He added that his next focus is to maintain his fitness levels ahead of Round 2 in Buriram, Thailand scheduled for May 8–10.

With this Race 2 victory, Ramdan now leads the overall standings with a total of 45 points.
