KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 – Every match counts and the task gets more and more difficult, more so when the team is not only unbeaten but also with a clean sheet after three matches – this sums up Sarawak United for Sunday’s Premier League match against Terengganu II at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka.
Sarawak United head coach E. Elavarasan is not taking chances against the East Coast feeder squad which is also unbeaten with three draws and one win with a goal tally of seven for and three against.
The Golden Hornbills go into the match with three wins out of three with a goal tally of seven and none against.
Elavarasan, aware of the danger from Terengganu II will field his strongest lineup without revealing the first eleven.
However, former national custodian Sharbinee Allawee will keep the goal for Sarawak United with his safe pair of hands giving the East Malaysian team added confidence in the last line of defense.
”It will be good to get a positive result before the one-week break,” said Elavarasan when contacted in Melaka on Saturday.
The M-League takes a one-week break for the national squad’s centralised training in Johor Bahru.
The Harimau Malaya is preparing for Malaysia’s remaining matches in Group G in the World Cup 2022/Asia Cup 2023 qualifiers which will be held in the United Arab Emirate in June.
Negri Sembilan is on top of the league standings with 10 points from four matches. Sarawak United is second on nine points.
”We need to be consistent to keep it hot at the top. As I have said before every match is going to be tough no matter whom we play. Terengganu II is no exception and we have to be n our toes in all departments.
”Of course, we have won the first three matches but it does not make Sarawak United the favorite. We need to work hard to get another positive win. This will be a plus factor when the league matches resume after the break,” added Elavarasan.
In the last match, Sarawak United downed Kuching City FC to win the Sarawak derby while Terengganu II shared points with Kelantan FC with a scoreless draw.
