KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 – Hours before Malaysia plays Vietnam in a do-or-die mission in a Group G qualifier of the World Cup 2022/Asia Cup 2023 in Dubai, national football head coach Tan Cheng Hoe received news of his father’s death.
However, Cheng Hoe is staying back with the team despite the demise of his beloved father, Tan Chooi Siak who was 95, died of old age in Alor Setar on Friday afternoon.
”It is something we all have to go through in life…losing a loved one. I am staying back with the team in Dubai until the end. I’ll continue with the team,” said Cheng Hoe from Dubai today.
Cheng Hoe added that his father was an inspiration to him in his football career.
”I will miss him,” added a sad Cheng Hoe who is hoping for a positive result against Vietnam at the Al-Maktoum Stadium.
