PATRIOTISM SEEN IN TENNIS PLAYERS ON MALAYSIA DAY

SANDAKAN, 18 Sept – Tennis players in Sandakan once again took to the courts to show their patriotism and celebrated the recent Malaysia Day on September 16 in true Malaysian spirit.
Describing themselves as Sandakan “crazy” tennis diehards, they had friendly doubles matches to celebrate Malaysia Day.
To show their true Malaysian patriotism all the matches were played in a one set format. The scores were ignored, but the “get together” was recorded by a group photograph to remember the day and for future references.
A similar tennis friendly was also held Merdeka Day on 31st August a tennis match was also held.
The next friendly will be on 3rd October to commemorate Sabah Governor’s official birthday.
Sabah Tennis Association (STA) President, Johnson Koh who is also the patron of the Sandakan District Tennis Association (SDTA), said the sport is very popular in the district and the state.
“These friendlies instill the patriotism of tennis players as Malaysian citizens as well as to foster the family ties of all tennis players,” said Johnson.
