PETALING JAYA, April 9 – Kelantan United pulled off a stunning 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Negeri Sembilan at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi in a Premier League match played on Friday.
Negeri also saw red in their defeat when Saiful Ridzuan was sent off for an early shower for a second bookable offense just before the halftime break.
It is Negeri’s first defeat in seven matches but despite the defeat remained on top of the league standings with 14 points. However, it could change when second-placed JDT II and third-placed Sarawak, with 13 points each play their matches on Saturday. For the record, JDT II and Sarawak United have played six and five matches respectively.
Negeri took a first-minute lead through a header by former international Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak planted home powerful header past Kelantan United keeper Fikri Che Soh from a long ball by Korean midfielder Bae Beom-geun.
However, Kelantan United hitback through Gambian striker Alfusainey Gassama to draw level in the 20t minute.
The lanky Gassama put the East Coast outfit 2-1 up in the 51st minute but 10-man Negeri made it 2-2 through their Cameroon hitman Alain Thierry Akono eight minutes later.
Hariz Kamarudin turned hero for Kelantan United when his freekick from outside the box took a deflection off the wall and hit the back of the Negeri net in 64thh minute for the winner.
