MALAYSIA CRUISE INTO SUDIRMAN CUP QUARTER-FINALS

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 – It was a Nile River cruise for Malaysia with a 5-0 whitewash of Egypt in their second Group D win of the Sudirman Cup mixed team championships in Vantaa, Finland on Tuesday.
The win was Malaysia’s second in the group, having beaten England in the first match and will play Japan in the top of the table clash on Thursday.
With a young team in Finland, led by All-England champion Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia rested all those who played against England.
Chen Tang Jie-Peck Yen Wei put Malaysia on the winning path by winning the mixed doubles. The Malaysians eased past Ahmed Salah-Nour Ahmed Youssri 21-6, 21-17 for the first point.
Ng Tze Yong came on court for the men’s singles and needed only 23 minutes to tame Mohamed Mostafa Kamel 21-8, 21-2 to put Malaysia 2-0 up.
Eoon Qi Xuan won her women’s singles encounter and strolled to 2-5, 21-7 win over Egypt’s Olympian Doha Hany, also in 23 minutes. Malaysia 3-0.
In the men’s doubles Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun outplayed Mohamed Mostafa Kamel-Ahmed Salah 21-7, 21-6 for Malaysia to lead 4-0 before Teoh Mei Xing-Yap Ling completed the rout with a 21-4, 21-9 win over Nour Ahmed Youssri-Doha Hany in the women’s doubles.
