KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 – It was another clean sheet for Sarawak United as they roared to a 2-0 win over Kuching City FC in the Premier League’s Sarawak derby played at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka on Tuesday.
The Golden Hornbills are perched on top of the 12-team league with nine points after earlier wins over Kelantan United (2-0) and Perak II (3-0). Negri Sembilan is in second place with seven points from three matches followed by Kelantan FC and Kelantan United with the same number of points but has played four matches each.
For Kuching City FC it was their second defeat in a row after going down 3-1 to Johor Darul Takzim II over the weekend following a 1-1 draw with Terengganu II in their opening match.
Sarawak United which has undergone a massive revamp this season went full throttle as early as the ninth minute with Nigerian hitman Uche Agba on target from an assist by Christie Jayaseelan. It is his fourth goal in the league.
Stuart Wark added the second in injury time before the half-time break when he beat Kuching City goalkeeper Iqbal Suhaimi off a corner by South Korean midfielder Lee Chan-hoon.
Sarawak United head coach E. Elavarasan is not getting carried away with his team’s impressive start to the season. His team’s next match is against Terengganu II at the Hang Jebat Stadium.
