PETALING JAYA, 29 Aug – Mauritania striker Dominique Da Sylva continued with his fine scoring form as he helped Terengganu to a massive 4-0 win over Sabah while Ivory Coast hitman Kipre Tchetche hit a brace in Kedah’s 2-0 win over Police and Selangor shared the spoils with Petaling Jaya City FC in Saturday’s Super League matches.
With seven goals to his credit, Da Sylva is the Super League’s top scorer – netting four in his team’s 4-3 win over Kedah and two against PJ City last week.
While Da Sylva set the tone with Terengganu’s opening goal at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak after 12 minutes, it was Uzbek midfielder Sanjar Shaakhmedov who stole the show with a brace which came in the 43rd and 71 minutes.
Singapore international Faris Ramli came off the bench to get his name into the scoresheet when he drove him Terengganu’s fourth in the 84th minutes. The win took the Turtles to the second spot with 10 points – three behind leaders Johor Darul Takzim.
Tchetche scored from the penalty spot at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras after half-an-hour and added his second six minutes later for full points for the Red Eagles who are now in the fourth spot with seven points – one behind third-placed Perak.
For Selangor, despite its dominance at their new home venue at the UiTM in Shah Alam, it was a tale of missed chances that denied the Red Giants’ full points much to the chagrin of coach B. Sathianathan.
Selangor next travel to Kota Kinabalu to play Sabah at the Likas Stadium on Sept 4 and Sathianathan is bracing for another tough match against the wounded East Malaysian side after the mauling in Terengganu.
