“The AFF also hopes that the announcement of the 2021 tournament dates will provide some clarity in planning for our commercial partners, including sponsors and media broadcasters, at a time of uncertainty.

“AFF and our member associations would like to express gratitude to all our fans, players, coaches, officials, media and other partners for their unwavering support and commitment despite these challenging times, and look forward to the AFF Suzuki Cup unifying the whole of South East Asia when we are able to come together again.”

Meanwhile, Sportfive Managing Director South East Asia, Malcolm Thorpe said that they are glad to work out the new tournament dates for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 with the relevant stakeholders.

Sportfive is the exclusive commercial partner of the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Originally scheduled to take place in November and December this year, the AFF Suzuki Cup is the largest and most prestigious football tournament in South East Asia and is set to see the national ‘A’ teams of the region competing for the Championship title.

The AFF will continue to work closely with the various member associations and partners to provide further updates on the 2021 tournament as soon as available.

SELANGOR FA AND KAMAL MUST COME CLEAN ON THE MESS

0
PETALING JAYA, 24 Sept – Of late, Selangor has been in the football limelight since the Malaysian League officially resumed on Aug 28 – one thing led to another as it became clear that head coach, B. Satinathan’s (pic) sack was pre-planned.
The dirty tactics employed by the management also revealed by Selangor FA (FAS) secretary, Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon that the Red Giants had lured naturalized Malaysian Mohamadou Sumareh from Pahang to sign up for the Klang Valley outfit.
The “back-door” tactics employed by Selangor has left many in bad taste as the Gambia-born Sumareh disappeared without news from Pahang’s training since August. Sumareh, was offered a lucrative deal to play for the Red Giants. He walked out on the Elephants – blinded by the fat monthly pay cheque.
There is no denying that FAS officials are full of lies and among them are “hidden hands” who have a “hidden agenda” to make big bucks from foreigners.
Satianathn happened to be the “kambing hitam” (scapegoat) and was sacrificed in the cruelest way one can think of – using the 6-1 defeat to Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and his race and religion.
Dr. Johan, please do not give lame excuses for Satianathan’s sacking when you had announced his impending removal even before the league resumed on Aug 28. Dr. Johan, you also used the 6-1 defeat to JDT as the yardstick to sack Satianathan – a dedicated, honest individual who gave his heart and soul to the team despite the odds against him, both on and off the field.
Dr. Johan name the individuals who plotted Satianathan’s removal and come clean on the mess in the Selangor FA as it clear that a German, who is a good buddy of caretaker coach Micheal Feichtenbeiner is set to be the next head coach of the Red Giants.
A well-planned plot that has been in the offing for quite some time. Names like Aidil Sharin Sahak (who is presently coaching Kedah) and Mehmet Durakovic (Perak) are just “spoilers” thrown in for the drama.
There is no guarantee that a Mat Saleh’will be able to bring in the desired results to lift Selangor football.
The money-making officials should be exposed and sacked for the good of Selangor football if the Red Giants aim to be among the big guns in Malaysian football.
Another aspect of the mess is the Selangor management by true professionals instead of listening to a certain group of fans who have been hired or used by certain individuals to create disharmony in the team.

PROSPERITY DRAGON – A TOURIST ATTRACTION IN YONG PENG, JOHOR

0

JOHOR BAHRU, 24 Sept – Johoreans are proud to add another tourist attraction in the state – an RM8 million dragon tunnel at the Che Ann Khor Moral Uplifting Association grounds in Taman Kota Impian Yong Peng, Batu Pahat.

At 115 meter (m), it is the largest and longest dragon tunnel in the world.

Launched by His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in November 2017, the dragon has been pulling in the crowds, both local and foreign.

The gigantic dragon tunnel is more than just boosting the tourism industry in this southern state.

Aptly dubbed as the “Prosperity Dragon” it is adorned with Chinese cultural and religious paintings and is a symbol of prosperity for Johor.

The 107m long beautifully crafted structure is between 3.6m and 4.8m high and has 144 steps inside. The belly of the dragon is fully air-conditioned and can accomodate 500 people.

Everything about the structure is related to number nine – which represents prosperity and luck for the Chinese community.

Ancient Chinese folklore has it that people who enter from the dragon’s mouth and exit from its tail will enjoy good luck and will be able to ward off evil.

The fortune dragon in Yong Peng is the first of its kind in Malaysia and has drawn tourists from as far as New Zealand, the United States of America, Australia, India and is also very popular with Singaporeans.

Yong Peng is also proud to have the second-highest Che Kung statue in the world.
The highest Che Kung statue is in Taiwan and stands at 23.16m high while the one at the Tian Pao Kong temple in Yong Peng stands at 20.72m.

Johor has been a major contributor to the tourism dollar and is set to further enhance its tourism attractions in booming Johor.

PAHANG SWITCH FOCUS TO THE MALAYSIA CUP

0
PETALING JAYA, 22 Sept – Pahang head coach, Dollah Salleh has come to terms with his team’s predicament in the Super League after a 2-2 draw against Felda United at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka on Sunday (Sept 20).
Injured Brazilian striker, Ivan Carlos earned Pahang a precious point as the Elephants came through in the stalemate against gritty Felda United.
The share of spoils pushed Pahang to seventh place on goal difference with 10 points.
“I am not concerned with the team’s position in the league…our focus is now on the Malaysia Cup and we will work towards that,” said Dollah when contacted in Kuantan.
It has been a roller-coaster ride for the Elephants since the league resumed officially on Aug 28 with a defeat to six-time champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) at home. This was followed by a 1-0 defeat to newcomers UiTM away.
However, Pahang gained their first win with a 2-1 win over bottom-placed Police at home to regain some confidence after naturalized Malaysian Mohamadou Sumareh disappeared without news since August over alleged late payment of salary.
Injuries to Dickson Nwakaeme and Herol Goulan made things worse for Dollah and the duo was again missing in the match against Felda. Even Carlos is on the crock list but came on as a substitute to snatch a precious point.
“I have been juggling the team with the youngsters to field my best and so far they have managed to give us hope. At this stage, it is best to forget where we finish in the league but instead prepare for the Malaysia Cup.
“Hopefully we will fare better in the Malaysia Cup and those injured will be ready by then. I am happy with the commitment and discipline showed by the young players.”
Pahang faces Kedah at home this Saturday followed by another home match against Perak before travelling to Kuala Terengganu to complete their match fixtures.

KEDAH BEAT SABAH TO MOVE UP TO SECOND PLACE

0
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 Sept – Playing their home match away at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras did not make much of a difference to Kedah in their postponed Super League match from Saturday to Monday.
The Red Eagles tightened their grip on second place in the 12-team league with 16 points – six behind six-time champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT).
Kedah’s win pushed Perak into third place on 14 points while UiTM is fourth with 13 points.
On a rainy day, Kedah adapted well to the soggy conditions with Kpah Sherman opening accounts with a header on 26 minutes.
However, Sabah hit back quick and made it 1-1 on the night when their Thai striker, Dennis Buschening finding the net off a goalmouth melee a minute later.
However, any hopes of Sabah revival fizzled out just as fast when Kedah struck again in the 71st minute.
This time Kipre Techetche got his name into the scoresheet before Zulkifli added the third for the Red Eagles after 75 minutes.

SATIANATHAN’S JOURNEY OF PITFALLS

0
PETALING JAYA, 21 Sept – It was never smooth going for former national coach, B. Satinathan who virtually fought a lone battle on and off the field as the Selangor head coach, especially this season’s curtailed M-League due to coronavirus (Covid-19).
Satianathan had his contract terminated today (Sept 21) – just three days after the Red Giants fell to a 6-1 defeat at the hands of six-time Super League champions, Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
Two weeks earlier at the same venue, JDT crushed Perak 7-0 for the biggest win in the league so far this season.
Somehow, Perak’s Australian coach, reportedly the highest-paid coach in Malaysia, survived the calls for his removal – thanks to the Perak management’s sound judgment in deciding on the prosecution by the social media.
Satianathan is not lucky in this respect. It must be noted that the Selangor management had already hinted that Satianathan’s contract will be reviewed at the end of the season just days before the M-League resumed officially on Aug 28.
Selangor FA secretary, Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon chucked professionalism out of the window with that statement before the Red Giants played Petaling Jaya City FC to a draw on Aug 29.
Satianathan’s job was already on the guillotine as the Selangor management sided the “hidden hands” that called for his removal and had more trust in a “Mat Saleh” – and it did not matter if the foreigner wins or loses matches.
The ”hidden hands” are agents who make big bucks in commissions that come with it which is quite a norm in Malaysian sports scenes.
While Satianathan gave a 120 per cent in his job as a professional, did the Selangor FA management do the same?
It is quite a norm in Malaysian sports to find a scapegoat. And there is no denying that racism exists in Malaysia although the politicians and the big guns are always in “denial mode” where truth is killed.
One also wonders why the rush in sacking Satianathan with three more matches to be completed in the league starting with this Saturday’s match against surprise package UiTM who have become giant killers in their own way.
The Selangor management will have a lot to answer instead of making Santianathan a scapegoat! For one, the management should be professional and come clean in their decisions.
Take a hard look at those who harped on race and religion. There is no denying that that there are those, including a player, who were given a “free reign” in instaging racial hatred in a multi-racial nation like Malaysia.
So much so, Satianathan even made a police report when his family became a target of hate just because of his race and religion.
Also take a hard look at the “hidden hands”‘ instead of just telling that Satianathan did not get full support of his players when in fact it is the other round.
Frankly, the players threw their full support for their “very professional” coach when Dr Kamal chose to be unprofessional.

SELANGOR TERMINATE SATIANATHAN’S CONTRACT

0
PETALING JAYA, 21 Sept – Former kingpins of Malaysian football Selangor has parted ways with head coach B. Satianathan with immediate effect after the Red Giants fell to a 6-1 defeat at the hands of six-time champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) on Saturday.
The defeat at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri was probably the last straw for the Klang Valley outfit in a season where Satianthan ”fought” many a losing battle off the field with many taking to social media to bring race and religion to get him sacked.
However, Satianathan, a no nonsense man, made it clear that he did not resign but was sacked by the management – which means Selangor will have to honor his contract which is until the end of this year.
Ironically, it is learnt that Selangor 2, a feeder squad, head coach Michael Feichtenbeiner is linked to the job with the senior team. It is a joke actually when Selangor 2 was also hammered 6-1 by JDT II in a Premier League match at Kelana Jaya on Sunday.
Under Satianathan, Selangor played eight matches – winning two with four draws and two defeats. The defeat against JDT saw the Red Giants slip to eighth position in the 12-team league with 10 points – separated by goal difference from sixth placed Terengganu (15-12), Pahang (12-12) against Selangor’s tally of 10-15.
Selangor’s next match is against UiTM at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam this Saturday.
Satianathan has taken the turn of events in his stride and said: ”This is football. You are never assured of your job. I accept the management’s decision with an open heart. They will have to honor my contract and pay me what is due.”
In another twist of irony Selangor 2 is doing no better in the Premier League. The 6-1 hammering at the hands of JDT II left the team in fifth place on 10 points after eight matches – ahead of Negri Sembilan. Selangor 2’s goal tally also reads 10-15.
Against JDT, Satianathan had to reshuffle his lineup without first choice goalkeeper Khairul Azhan Khalid who got married on the same day of the match, Brenda Gan who sat out a one match suspension and the injured Syazwan Zainon.
In all fairness it was a real tough match for Satianathan’s team against the star-studded JDT who not only has a big squad but also equal depth on the bench.
With substitute goalkeeper Farizal Harun a bundle of nerves between the posts, one also has to take into consideration that the ”big help” from the referee Zulkarnain Zakaria who awarded a dubious penalty which led to JDT’s second goal.
The penalty was the start of the collapse against the favorites who not have a big squad but also equal depth on the bench.
It is rightly said that Selangor players simply “lost the will” to fight when the referee is not fair in a big match.
“Injuries took a toll on the team but again it is the results that count. The management does not see the real reasons. We won two and drew four and lost two…but this is not good enough although we are still in the race for a top finish.
“There is still the Malaysia Cup to play for. I wish the team all the best. The players gave their  best on the field under trying situations,” said Satianathan a former national coach.
